• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

    Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

    By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

I am using Windows 7 Premium 32 and would like to know when is the first indication of the "Tools" appearance in FSX.
I installed FSX Deluxe using the install from FsDeveloper Wiki and I thought I had it right but "Tools" still isn't showing on the menu in FSX while attempting to fly.
The FSX program and sdk's are all in the default location that Microsoft advised.
I also changed the dll.exe that was required.
I cannot find where the SDK.CHM extension is suppost to show.

SP2 documentation is supplied in chm format, as a single compiled html file, fsxsdk.chm.
located by default in C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X SDK\SDK

from the file dates -
- That's not the SDK SP2 content.
- It looks like RTM or possibly SP1.

Thank you for your observations, it's exactly what I needed. I have been letting Microsoft install the SDK's to where they want to (default).

I'ii reinstall the SDK's more carefully. (3rd try) Frank!

Removed addons and reinstalled "Microsoft Flight Simulator X SDK" and noticed the first appearence of "Tools" in SFX. Getting excited.

Installed FSX SP-1 from new location. Did a restart, checked FSX and I lost "Tools". Now to find a way to remove SP-1 and find out what went wrong.

Re-installed FSX and the SDK from FSX Disk 1 and I no longer have "tools" showing in FSX while in flight.

Back to the drawing board. :coffee: Frank!
 
TO activate "Tools" in FS, read up in the SDK (I think) because you need to activate it in your cfg file, but I do not recall if it's in the FSX.cfg or a different cfg set up.

TO most of us, "FSX Tools" is the menu items that appears in gma/Max from which to apply animations, etc. to the model being created.
 
I installed fsuipc4 (Registered) and now I have "Tools" showing. "fsuipc4" is not showing beside "Tools".

Can I install the FSX ACCELERATION Expansion Pack without installing SP1, SP1a? Frank!
 
Hi Frank,

You need to edit the dll.xml file to enable the tools like the Object Placement Tool, else you do not get the Tools menu.

Yes, you can install Acceleration pack without the others AFAIK. Be sure to install the correct SDK version afterwards as well.

I removed the Acceleration package and "Tools" showed up again.

Acceleration Pack I really don't need. I can live without it.

What is thr correct SDK version you mentioned?

The dll.xml I changed three TRUE to False, nothing else.

Instead of removing Acceleration, you should have simply installed the Acceleration SDK... :eek:
 
I found that SP1a is a patch for the SDK found on Disk 1 in FSX Deluxe. I installed it and I also installed SP1 after. I now have "Tools" and fsuupc showing in the FSX menu.

The tutorials seem to be made for fs2004/vista and very confusing. It is not written for Windows 7. That is why the forums are an excellant gift to persons like me. I want to thank everyone for the help they have given me and to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a pleasant New Year.

I am now moving on to Gmax. Thank yo all. Frank!
