• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FSX FSX Wow...

So after 2 years of being spoiled with MSFS, I went back and plugged in some new data into FSX because I'm still getting up to speed with the development processes for MSFS after a 2 year hiatus. I have to say I was unpleasantly surprised at how shockingly bad FSX really was. I mean when I added USA wide photoscenery, elevation data, water mapping, night lights and autogen to it, it came up real nice, especially in Prepar3D. But going back and flying in FSX now I was appalled. A gazillion small airports were missing, hardly any airports in Australia, terrain dem and texture popping, high res elevation data totally messing up the landclass tiles and so much more.

Wow the difference with MSFS. I've actually started deleting all my old projects from FSX/P3D and clearing space on my hard drives now. I can honestly say I won't be going back to FSX ever again.

All the years I spent developing mass scale photosceneries, the tens of thousands I spent in development costs, it's all time to let go and move forward.

Thanks so much Asobo for implementing so much stuff I wrote in the FSW game design documents, and a whole lot more, you have given me my life back where I can just enjoy flying in VR.

Sigh, it was a good ride FSX, thanks for all the memories.
