• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.

FSXP28 Exclusion Rectangle Does not Work

Has anyone else found that the Exclusion Rectangle doesn't function?
The new layout looks great unfortunately I am finding that far more mouse clicks are need now to access items in the way that I work than previously. I am finding that sometimes I need to click the new icons more than once before the 'click' sticks and the item becomes active. :(
Has anyone got version 27b available so I get get back to a steady work flow.
Thanks

Further to above, I have closed down FSXP28 and restarted. The exclusion rectangle(s) all appeared. When nothing appeared I tried several time after the close down and re-start they were stacked one on top of the other.

Extra mouse clicks should not be necessary when drawing any of the items as we did not adjust how they get created. Is this for all items, or just for certain ones?

The exclusion rectangles being displayed all in the same place is also very odd. Do you mean that before you saved you had two rectangles in different places, and then after reloading they were both in the same place?

If you want to go back to the previous interface, there is an option in the preferences dialog to do so. It is under the App tab at the bottom. Uncheck the 'Use Ribbon Menus' option and the next time you start FSX Planner you will have the old style menus.

Hi Russell,
I am finding that I have to click on an item more than once in most instances in order to move the focus to that object. If for example I am on taxiway type and want to go to pointer I click pointer but the focus stays on Taxiway point until I click again on pointer. I have to leave a deliberate pause period between the two clicks or focus change does not occur. Using 27b I clicked and I got no delays.
In respect of the exclusion rectangle I tried to draw a rectangle but nothing appeared on screen, no outline or shaded area. I assumed I had not moved focus as described above so tried again, still nothing. Now allowing for my not starting or finishing in the same locations exactly I had two non existent excludes. I eventually tried four times before giving up, closing down and putting my entry on the forum regarding this 'problem'.
Having posted I decided to have one more attempt and restarted FSXP, low and behold all the excludes appeared one on top of the other.
I posted my update based on that finding. As I am presently working on a project I have not taken the time out to try to recreate the problem but will if you wish me to do so.
Thanks for all your great work by the way, I will get used to the new interface, eventually:)

I have a thought on the exclusion rectangles. It may be that perhaps they were being created but not displayed. This would mean that each time you tried to create a rectangle, it actually was created but just not displayed. It would not be displayed if they exclusion rectangles button in the Display tab of the ribbon had a red X through it.

When a tool is selected FSX Planner should automatically turn the display for that type of tool on if it is not already on. I will have to check that and get back to you.
