• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

P3D v4 Fuel stat gauge

Back in the days of yore and FS2004 there used to be a brilliant little tool that provided oodles of information on fuel status, quantity, range, time 'till empty, etc., etc., etc. I was part of the SOH Round the World Race team and this tool was a 'must have' on any pop-up panel on any of our race aircraft as it was so useful. The tool in question is the 'RKG_fuelstat.gau' gauge if anyone remembers it. The gauge used to work fine in FSX too but now I've moved over to 64 bit P3D v4.5 it will not play nicely as P3D refuses to work with .gau gauges.

Does anyone know of any .XML gauge that performs the same functions and will work in P3D v4.5? It's at times like this that I really miss my LDR Development Team gauge programmer as Roman would have knocked out an equivalent XML or C++ gauge in about an hour! I still miss him and hate cancer for taking him away too soon! 😢

That gauge is 32-bit, that's why it won't work with 64-bit P3D v4. P3D v4 and above still readily supports .gau files, as long as they're 64-bit.

Ahh ok...I wasn't aware that there were 64 bit .gau gauges I thought they were all 32 bit from FS2004 days and earlier.

Prepar3D v4 and above are 64-bit applications. They require that any .gau files also be 64-bit.

That's good to know, I still haven't found a replacement option for the gauge though. :(

A colleague from another forum has also run into the same problem with that same gauge in his newly acquired P3D v4.5 too.

I wish there was something available somewhere as it was a useful tool back in the day.
