• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Fuselage won't render

I have a strange thing happening here, I was wondering if someone can help me. I was working on my Fairey Firefly, saving as I go, making backups when I completed arduous tasks in Gmax. Then my C drive crapped out and I had to get a new one, and reinstall everything from Windowx XP up.

Luckily, all my files were saved and I was able to get my project back from the point I left off before the crash.

I began working on the Firefly again, and after a few days of redoing the tail section, I decided to select all, and export selected as I had done in the past to see what the model looked like in FS2004. This time however, the fuselage appears inside out. I can see the exterior colours on the interior and the exterior is invisible. see photos.

I've gone back and exported a previous save with no problem, everything looks fine. I've even gone in to the preferences to see if anything was different between the "good" model, and the "bad" model Gmax settings. Nothing. Everything is the same it's just that, the fuselage will not export or appear correctly. Can anyone help me? Thanks.

Doug Smith

If the fuselage is e-mesh, select all polys and hit "Flip Normals." Test in sim to see if okay.

If the fuselage is e-poly, select Element and hit "Flip Normals." Test in sim to see if okay.

If neither of the above work, then add a "Mirror" modifier to the stack. Test in sim to see if okay.

The first two will invert the Normal's orientation. The latter one will actually invert the Faces and Normals.
