• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Fuzzy textures

Some of my club members are having a problem with some scenery that I designed. They say that after installing the scenery that they are getting some strange effects. Not from the new scenery, but from the surrounding default scenery.

See: http://www.margaritaair.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=950&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0

If you want to download the scenery, feel free: http://www.margaritaair.com/downloads/MYAX.zip

Any ideas how to help them? I am not having the same issues and cannot recreate the problem.

OK, just checked out Arnos response to another post about the format of the textures. All textures are saved in DXT3 with Alpha......should they be stored in a different format (DXT1, perhaps)?

Humm, no DXT1 or DXT3 are both fine.

This reminds me of a problem I discussed sometime ago. I can't remember exactly, but I think it was caused by a faulty object somewhere. The best advice I have right now is to try to remove some of the objects and see if that solves it. That way you should be able to identify the object causing it.

Hi,
not always DXT3 textures are okay. For fences, windows and other static objects are okay but using them with the ground is maybe not good idea. In my scenery I use DXT3 also but with care. Maybe if You would try to make a backup of Your textures and convert them to DXT1, maybe this would help? Also maybe there is some object somewhere that makes troubles...

Best regards

Unless you need more then a 1 bit alpha channel it is indeed better to use DXT1 (makes you files smaller as well). But I doubt it if the texture type would give such results.
