• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Get ready for the pity sell...lol. Im a vet and i am disabled. I'm looking for an alternative source of income and I've built an aircraft with an entirely 3d virtual cockpit with working stick and rudder pedals. It has many unique qualities and I am trying to find an outlet to sell it. Is there a page that lets other modellers sell? Does anyone know how i could maybe find or build a site like this on my own. I'm not wanting to take the world by storm or anything. Just want to buy food. I've included a few pics. Are you interested? The exterior paint is done using every possible decal from the "Emil Trop." The panel has working gauges interior AND exterior. The gear has lower compression and the bottom portion of the gear cover moves with the lower gear. The flight model is nearly perfect. The radiators and aircleaner have photoreal textures. Interior details have photoreal textures. The model has working autopilot and gps nav gear. I can deliver in either fs2004/fs2000/cfs2. Canopy operates interior and exterior, working secondary flaps, and hyper accurate gauge placement in 2d AND 3d cockpits. (The detailing was done using three seperate photos of the Emil cockpit.) Highly detailed exhaust ports. Photoreal texture on the pilot seat and floorboards. This plane makes the giveaway plane on simviation.com look stupid.

Misstep?

Please let me know if I have stepped out of line here. I see I'm getting some views but no responses.

hello,

indeed looks like you put some serious work on it. have you tried online shops for FS products? simMarket are generally very good and easy to set up your vendor's account.

will try that

I've been researching setting up a webpage. I'd rather do like you are suggesting though...just to start out. Sounds like they have a good name for their page. Definitely worth looking into.

Do they...

I'm sure ill find out soon but is there a way to upload the file and the cart pays out per download?

Not really, I just moved it to the showroom since this is more showing your work then general chat.

Unless you set up a PayPal account to receive the payment directly (which also means having your own website, etc.) then you will receive funds once per month as an aggregate of total sales from the previous month from most such places.

One exception is the store at flightsim.com (which is not owned by flightsim.com!), where payment is not made until a certain amount is reached. I've read some horror stories from folks who've not received payment yet despite long since having passed that threshold.

Thanks Everyone

Man I really appreciate the input all of you. Forgive my insecurity there in my second post. I am so new I still have no clue what is or is not acceptable, and the very last thing I want to do is offend. This site has been invaluable for this new goal I have. If you have time I would like to tell you a story.

I had just finished completely reworking the air files on a handful of planes I had downloaded. It was an arduous task that had taken me about three weeks of flying these ships at sea level and 15000 feet checking all the flight dynamics and verifying wing dimensions, area and whatnot. This was all because it took me about 100 trys (not exaggerating) to find 6 aircraft of these type that looked halfway decent. After all this was done I was kind of depressed. You know what I mean, "What the F am I gonna do now." So i was talking with my brother who does websites and he was telling me about computer modelling. I was already headed in that direction and we had a fun chat. The following day I began my journey to find Gmax and go to work. The next two weeks were insane. About three quarters of the people attempting to explain Gmax must be on crack. And half the info is so dated that none of the links work anymore. Then I stumbled onto this site. It was all layed out in an easy to understand manner. The COMPLETE gamepacks, the DETAILED instructions, the support has been very good. I hope that I can pay the generosity back in some way.

Very Thankful NEWBEEE.

Thanks for the thanks! :D

The chief problem is that even though any one person might throughly understand something themselves, they lack the skills to explain any given process in a clear, concise, and -most of all- complete fashion.

What I mean by this is that all too often, one or more critical steps are left out of their explanation, because (they think) "this is so obvious everyone should know this already..."

Of course another factor may be simply one of language barriers. Many of the best modelers or gauge programmers aren't native English speakers, which sometimes leads to some rather interesting, not to mention confusing results... :rotfl:

Yet another problem is one called Information Dillution. There are, as you've discovered, thousands of websites, forums, Wiki's, et cetera that are available. All too often the information at some of these sources is either flat wrong, or simply out-of-date. Far too often "bad practices" seem to get the most exposure.

Compounding the problems is the simple fact that a complete model - meaning 3d model, gauge/panel system, textures, flight dynamics, sounds, and effects - is incredibly complex! Which is why of course most third-party development houses have teams made up of specialists in each of these areas, because it's well-neigh impossible for any one person to be even a journeyman in all of them, much less a master!

After nearly fifteen years in this "business," I still consider myself an apprentice in most of these areas, and possibly a journeyman in the gauge/panel design area.

That's so funny that you would say that!!!!

I've been getting pretty comfortable with the modeling part now. The flight model part im pretty familiar with also. So the part that has been nagging me is the sound. I aliased to the stock NiK2 George (whatever) because my 109 is an inverted V-12 visa vie the closest match and such. But I've been doing alot of exterior work and I noticed that when I kick the MW-50 in it doesn't make the growl on the outside but only on the inside. So I looks in the sound file for George and Krikey!!! . A million numbers and no real pattern from one to the next. So I'm spending the next week or two in the sound forums...lol
