• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

MSFS24 Generate .xml files for .png textures

Hi Arno,
I've looked everywhere and haven't found anything, so I'm posting here.
With MSFS 2024, there must now be .xml files accompanying the PNG textures.

I tried MCX with the MSFS 2024 GLTF export, but it doesn't generate the .xml files.
Is it possible that it will?

It works in Blender:
Thanks

Hi,

If you export as a MSFS scenery package the filed are created. Or if you save the textures from the material editor there is also an option to create these files.

Hallo.

@FSX3D

I had exactly the same problem a few days ago. I solved it by changing the asset version in the package definition file (from version 1 to version 0):

When opening your project in MSFS24, this message appears:

Simply click Upgrade All and the XML files are automatically created in the texture folder. So it's not a Blender or MCX-specific problem. :)

Hi Christian,
Simple and effective :)
I was wondering how to "Upgrade" again.
Thanks very much ;)

I cant find anything in the material editor where it is possible to generate .xml's along with saving the .png's, and when i export as a msfs package there is no xml with the pngs, it makes an xml along with a gltf, but nothing for the textures! i am using 1.7.0 from 10 29 23, is this the newest version?

Hi,
Either you do 'material editor' screenshot 1 Or
you do 'export scenery package MSFS 2024' screenshot 2...

MCX 1.7 from 10 29 23 is for sure not the newest release, either use the 1.7 stable release (which is from December 2024) or use the MCX 1.8 development release which is updated regularly. The download links for both can be found on this page:
