• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FSX Getting Traffic Toolkit to work?

Hi again. After some initial success at fixing a few broken stock airports, I decided to try my hand at making one from scratch. So I built one out in the middle of the Sahara, but there is no AI traffic. I read many posts regarding how to get traffic and have tried to get the Traffic Tools SDK to work - alas to no avail.

My FSX folder is: D:\Games\FSX
My SDK folder is: D:\Games\FSX\SDK
The path in the C:\Documents and Settings\PJK\Application Data\Microsoft\FSXdll.xml file reads: <Path>..\SDK\SDK\Environment Kit\Traffic Toolbox SDK\traffictoolbox.dll</Path>

Yet I cannot find the indicated "Tools>Traffic Tools" menu selection within FSX. Where is it exactly? (in free fight)?

Thanks for the help.

If the installation is correct you should see the menu tools, yes in free flight.
You should post this thread in the " Sdk installation problems", take a look there if could be of help, there are two or three points you should observe, the true/false set in the Dll file, and the installation of all the sdk upadates for Sdk, all the versions. good luck.

Middle of the Sahara is a tough place. Can you blame anyone for not wanting to fly there.

It just seems easier to me to use AIFP to make Flight plans for FS. Just like everything, you have to learn how to use it. But I think it the SDK is not intuitive.

To Tejal Bernardo - Thanks so much. You taught me more than I thought I needed. I originally came to this forum via a direct link. I had no idea there were so many other forum topics. I found what you suggested and have successfully installed the traffic tools. I had a version mismatch. :)

To bobbyjack - I figured nothing brings life to the desert like casino gambling. So I created a Las Vegas style city in the middle of the Sahara. But for the local economy to really take off, the airlines need to land some passengers. Hopefully, I will be able to figure it out! BTW - What is AIFP?

Cheers!

P.S. Sorry for posting this in the wrong section. I'll know for next time...

Congrats Pjk, you really have solved the issue fast, usually when people cope with sdk problems it really take long, and yes, you can't blame fsx not having ai traffic in Sahara :D,regards.

AIFP AI Flight Planner, there is a forum here for it, great tool, link below........

I may have to look at AIFP as I am having no luck with TrafficDataBaseBuilder. I can't get the command line to execute with any parameters other than /output. But I guess I will need to make a new thread in the proper forum for help with that.

Great to hear you've successfully installed the traffic tools! Creating a Las Vegas-style city in the Sahara sounds intriguing. As for AIFP, it stands for "AI Flight Planner," a tool used for flight simulation. Good luck with your desert city project! Cheers!

Use AIFP (AI Flight Planner) Once you get the hang of it, and it is fortunately quite intuitive, you will be making flight plans and AI traffic where ever you want it. AIFP also comes with a manual of instructions, so that is quite helpful if you fall afoul. AIFP is used by just about every simmer for AI traffic so you can get lots of help in the FSD forums if needed.
Cheers.
