• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

Loading mdl from a FSX aircraft in MCX create the following errors I can handle, the shown graphic model gets corrupt- can I get help with that here?

In MCX the following two error occurs:

1) wont load/read the modeldef.xml properly
2) " $j35_1024_13 is a dynamic VC textures and wont be shown here"

Any help appreciated

Åke

Hi,

Those two warnings are quite normal and don't have to be an issue. The first one means you need to update location of the modeldef.xml file in the options. If the path is valid there and you still get the error the xml file is most likely corrupt.

The second warning is also normal when virtual cockpit textures are loaded.

Are you loading an exterior or interior model here?

OK, Interior mdl (enclosed). I am trying to figure out why the plane is corrupt in MCX.

"you need to update location of the modeldef.xml file in the options" - exactly what do you mean here?
Wanted to enclose the Interior but it appears to be to "large"

Trying to prevent that the mdl_interior file cause CTD by changing the event to NO by mousclick rectangle
I am however not able to "save" the new mdl file properly-how do I do that?

Hi,

You should be able to export it to a mdl file again using the xtomdl tool from the SDK. But you need to fix that modeldef.xml warning, else you won't have animations.

Which sdk do you have installed? MCX should pickup the modeldef.xml and other tool paths from it based on the registry settings.

If you refer to the MSFS SDK it is 0.13.0.0 .
I have changed national settings frpm Swedish to US to eliminate the Error decimal sign , /. Thats OK now just to have the next error regarding the SDK?

I dont have FSX anymore, just MSFS - can I refer to that SDK instead- if yes, how....?

To be able to export FSX mdl files the MSFS SDK won't help you. You can best install the Prepar3D 1.4 SDK.

So I did-worked perfectly, thanks!
The next issues are the gauges/panel in xml to html etc. Loading the Interior mdl now into MCX create NO errors, just a few warnings. See below the result. In addition I killed all mouse rectangles clicks to avoid CTD so the plane is a dead parrot. I guess thats a dead end, but atleast the aircraft can be used as a scenery object in MSFS....
Or do you see a way to continue improve?

Arno- do you see an opportunity to continue to improve gauges and have some clickable functions working- I have now atleast a stabile (no CTD) aircraft and the Gauge folder doesnt look to bad but need manual inputs I guess?

I am no expert on gauges, so I have no idea what should be done with them.
