• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Hello

I have a problem with exporting my model. Looks good in Gmax but when I visualize the ConverterX appears invisible as in FS2004.

Anyone have any idea.

Upload photos.

Greetings....

That happens to me with some planes, I usually repair that by resaving the textures using DXTBmp.
I don't know if that's your case, but I advice you to try...

Does the model show up ok in FS?

If not, then it may be an issue with importing a 3DS model with an older Max version, bringing it into Gmax. There are issues with older Max versions having used Mirror or Clone and it permanently makes the model unuseable in FS, appearing either inside out, or invisible and no fixes seem to work, even bringing them through Blendor and various other import/export/format changes...

Thanks Buddy.

It seems that there is the problem. Import a .3ds file to gmax and then exported normally. But seeing him in FS2004, is transparent or invisible.

Then the solution would be to install 3dsmax v.__, and from there export the models as .x file.

Greetings.

invisible

I think either you have your textures wrong
making an alpha effect. Or I agree your parts are
inside out.

try using Unify. Or the Flip Normal Mode.

Unify: Flips the normals of an object so that they all point in the same direction, usually outward. This is useful for setting an object's patches to appropriate orientations, thus eliminating apparent holes in the object surface.

Flip Normal Mode: Flips the normal of any patch you click. To exit, click this button again or right-click anywhere in the program interface.

DG, I am not sure, but I think you would see the model inside-out if the polygons exported reversed. You would see the backsides easily. Here, there are only a few parts visible.

When I had my 'mess' with a 3DS model from an older version of Max, it had a handfull of inside out polygons along the bottom side of the fuselage that actually exported. The rest was totally invisible.

I still wish I knew how to have fixed that. What a beautiful model that was.

Also.... You have this in a paint program, not FS. Have you actually tried it in FS? Some paint programs and also Aircraft Manager will not always show the model for various reasons. My B-797 just released will not show up in the paint programs but works perfect in FS9 and FSX...

flip

IF he uses flip he will have his model inside out.
But if he uses flip normal it will stay outward on
the skin and the structure too. i tested it on a box
when i wrote the first reply. But obviously the problem\is how he is trying to convert.

By the way do you guys know how to do a multi-compile for C++ ?
I have five files that have to comile at once. I can do 1 file.

Because i want to make my own vc custom sounds.
I need it for payware so I have to use my own.
I did get the smoke effect to run 1 custom sound.
But that's all you can get by using an effect.

Really could use some help to get 5 custom sounds
for switches and other parts in my vc.

Any help would be great.

I wonder if he got his ship to work?

DG:)

Hey DG,

Bill Leaming can create a very nice sound system for you. He did one for me. I know he is a bit busy presently but might be able to do it for you in the near future. It was a pretty good price. It takes quite a bit of C++ coding and bits and pieces to make it all work and will get you some great sounds for the VC.

roger that. I love mine. I am a sound freak, so its nice to put in odds and ends into the system. Be sure you ask how to code in sounds into switches as you need that.

Get ready to have fun.....

On the weird faces problem.
I saw this not long ago in another Game.
(I work in 3D Max 8 and 2008 by the way)
What I found was some faces were flipped in a strange way.
I did a render to texture and those faces would not render!
I could then track them down and flip as needed.
I have no clue what caused this to happen.
