• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Sorry for the repost, i just found this section.

Hi there, im not sure if i post in the right section but anyway, i need help with gmax. I've create an animated hangar and when i whant to export my mdl, that gives me an error like this:

WARNING: Degenerate poly detected in file (GMaxExport) mesh (Hangar_Anim_e)
WARNING: Face vertex 0 x=-2816 y=1314 z=1190
WARNING: Face vertex 1 x=-4758 y=1287 z=1163
WARNING: Face vertex 2 x=-4758 y=1287 z=1163
WARNING: Degenerate poly detected in file (GMaxExport) mesh (Hangar_Anim_e)
WARNING: Face vertex 0 x=-4821 y=1286 z=1158
WARNING: Face vertex 1 x=-4758 y=1287 z=1163
WARNING: Face vertex 2 x=-4758 y=1287 z=1163

and after giving me this warning, that gave me

Error: Convert Data Failed

Error: failed to run exporter

Error: failed to export model

Error: export module failed

Im really stuck at this place.

I dont know what to do about there so can anyone help me.
Thaks alot.

this means you have defined polygons that aren't actually polygons. It happens, I'm not really sure what I do to cause this...but now and again, it happens. You can see that vertex 1 and 2 of both polys are located at identical locations. Thus, gmax sees a line but is told its a poly somehow.

I use a trial and error way of finding these. I make a copy of my model, and then do experimental compiles. I'll delete the left half, compile. If the problem goes away, I know the left half is ok. Then go back to the right half, but it in half...compile, etc.... You can find the polys this way pretty quickly. Once you see the odd poly, kill it, and move on. Or...if the offending polys exist in a easily remake able part of the model, then just remake that part and move on.
