• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

    Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

    By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

installed gmax, fired it up, installed fsx gamepack as per wiki,fired it up....nooo
mtlgen, dlt is missing, gmax failed to start...it starts without fsx, but wont start with fsx...two shortcuts on desktop..one new one old..vista has eaten my mtlgen, dlt,,i really would like to try gmax, any help greatly appreciated.

ive been using fsds 3.5.1...but ime told that gmax is really difficult,,,i like a
challenge...jim

thanks for the help, followed wiki,,gmax fires up,installed extras help,tutorials etc...no probs...copied fsx folder gamepack, into gamepack..
folders intact...origonal folder unaltered in sdk...retyped ini as per instructions.

mtl gen, dlt is in folder std plugs...runs from gmax icon, no fsx...from fsxgmax
icon, mtl gen dlt not found, shuts down...this is obviously a problem of the human input device,,,me, i cant reboot myself, i am reduced to going out back and throwing rocks at the squirrels...the gamepack folder is in the sdk unaltered...the copied gamepack folder is in gmax gamepacks,,,the ini file has been altered as per instructions...the mtl gen dlt is in std plugs...what am i missing?...thanks for the help, and if you need a sack of squirrels,jim
 
If you just set it up as descibed in the SDK manual, you can start GAMX using the shortcut that comes with FSX SDK. With a bit of thinking you can ecen install several gamepacks and lload the right version just selecting the right shortcut. The normal GMAX shortcut does not work, though.
