• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Thanks Scruffy duck for the help It was much appreciated I finally got the program to work and everything seems to be running smoothly so far.

So ok The main reason i got this program was because I wanted to change from which runway Fsx would use as the primary runway/runways for example I live close to Klax And I know in real life the planes takeoff to the west over the ocean but in the flight simulator planes are almost always directed to take off to the east which is not very realistic probably a simple question but how would i change the primary landing and departing runways..

just double click each rwy to open Properties
at the tabs you will see "Pattern" in the Primary (drop down menu) change the YES to NO in the takeoff and landing
do this to each of the rwy's

Ok I'm in the Runway properties box under the pattern tab. Theres primary and secondary how do i know wich box corresponds with what runway.

sorry for two posts But another quick question

Once I were to change the runway directions How would i go about saving it so that the changes will appear in Fsx.

Just curious as when i click on save in ade it saves the file in a folder called work so I'm not sure if its actually applying the changes in fsx.. thanks

If you look at the first tab of the properties for a runway it has two areas for the runway number and designator - Primary and Secondary.

When you save you save the project file in a special format that ADE uses. To compile it to FSX you need first to make sure that FSX. You need to decide where you are going to put the compiled Bgl file. It needs to go somewhere that FSX knows about. The simplest is to put it into the Addon Scenery/scenery folder. This is not the best place but if you are just making this change then that would do for now.

First also make sure that you completed the folder paths to the FSX Folder and the BglComp Folder. I assume you did that during the installation and configuration.

Click File > Compile Airport. When the dialog opens navigate to your FSX main folder, then to Addon Scenery and then to Scenery. Accept the default file name that ADE offers you and click Save. After a few moments you will get a message saying Airport Compiled. If you get anything else like a message saying a file cannot be found then you do not have the path the BglComp set correctly.

Next run FSX. You should see a window telling you that the scenery databases are being updated. If that does not happen check in the Addon Scenery/Scenery folder to make sure that you bgl file is there. Assuming the database updates then FSX will read your changes

Sorry If it seems like I'm piling alot of questions on you at once..

So I had FSX open my plane was parked at Klax I went into ADE and connected to FSX I then edited the runways. I went to compile the airport but there was no addon folder under FSX main folder So i created A folder with the name Addons with the sub folder scenery and this is where I compiled it to it said it compiled sucessfully but I close out of FSX and open it back up it never says anything about updating scennary database. and when i go to the airport the changes are not there..
 lol

The folder I am talking about is called Addon Scenery. It is the first folder inside the FSX main folder and must be there. Inside it is a folder called scenery

So you can either compile to Addon Scenery/scenery or you need to go and activate your new Addon folder in FSX settings

This is the one to compile to. If you created any other folder it will not show up unless you activate it by going to settings in FSX and then scenery and then add that folder.

Thanks :) I think I have everything I need now It's pretty simple once you actually learn the steps lol. Thnaks for being patient with me..
