• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.

GP editor taxiway markings question

It should be the third item in the list for gp_PatternedLines_40F. Did you install/update the texture control files?

Don

Yes, I did exactly as instructed, but when I open the editor, choose 'patterned lines_40F_dpy', enhanced centerline is not an option under the line pattern menu.

Todd

Todd, try gp_PatternedLines_40F. I'm surprised you see anything at all in the patterns menu for gp_PatternedLines_40F_Dpy. In fact, the latter shouldn't even be there. I suggest you delete it from your Textures_Dpy folder.

If the textures have been installed correctly, the following line should appear in your Lines_Def.txt file:

Enhanced Runway C/L | gp_PatternedLines_40F | U=108 | 32 | 512

Don

Don,

I must be losing my mind or something, because it's still not showing up for me. I deleted the one file other file as instructed in the link from your last post. I still don't get the option of enhanced taxiway centerlines.

Todd

Enhanced Runway C/L | gp_PatternedLines_40F | U=108 | 32 | 512
Is that line included? Does the texture gp_PatternedLines_40F appear in your texture list?

Don

Don,

That line does not appear in my Lines_def.txt file. It does appear in my Lines_def_base.txt file.

What do you mean by texture list? Is that a separate text file or are you asking if it's available in the GP editor?

Either way, gp_patternedlines_40F does appear under the main texture dropdown menu in the editor. In both the texture_def.txt and texture_def_base.txt files I see this:

gp_PatternedLines_40F|0|40F|false

Todd

Todd, the _Base files and folders are for reference only. I sometimes refer to them as a "starter set". For you to be able to select the enhanced centerline, you must either make a copy of Lines_Def_Base.txt and name it Lines_Def.txt or update Lines_Def.txt with those entries from Lines_Def_Base.txt you wish to use - as described in here

What do you mean by texture list?
I was referring to the Textures combobox- which lists the available textures.

Either way, gp_patternedlines_40F does appear under the main texture dropdown menu in the editor. In both the texture_def.txt and texture_def_base.txt files I see this:

gp_PatternedLines_40F|0|40F|false
That's as it should be. But you need the Lines_Def entry to be able to select the specific pattern.

Don

Have mercy... I can now select the enhanced centerline in the GP editor (thanks Don!); However, after compiling, my new lines show up as single thick yellow lines, not as enhanced centerlines.

Todd

Did you copy the texture gp_PatternedLines_40F from either Textures_Base_Mipped or Textures_Base_NonMipped into your textures folder?

I have just confirmed that the proper alpha channels are included.
