• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Ground poly overlapping Ground poly lines

Hey I have a bit of problem with ground ploys and lines.
I created ground poly lines and ground poly.
The ground ploy is drawing level 5 and a ground poly line 24.
The ground poly overlaps the ground line in the sim.
It would be cool if you could help me with that :)

Hello all !
I never try level 5 for ground poly. Default is 24, if i'm right.
I don't try your file but you could try ground poly at level 24 and ground poly line at 25.
it works here.
Hope it helps.

SInce I don't have your custom taxiway markings I can't compile as you would. But, I did receive an error message saying that P3D doesn't reliably display GPs below layer 16. I'm surprised you didn't receive the same message.

Try upping the GP layer number into the range 16-23

Sorry for the late answer but its does not work, I have a ground polygon which is not overlapped by the big one, the only difference is that the drawing layer is not controlled by GP object

Please post your updated ad4 file with the new layer numbers.

EDIT: Don't bother posting your updated .ad4 file. I substituted a bunch of textures in your original .ad4 file (none of the ones of concern) so as to get the file to compile. Those lines display ON TOP OF the poly - on my system. Which suggests whatever is wrong is in your system configuration.

Since I can't duplicate the issue, I can only guess as to the cause. My first guess would be that you are using a terrain addon covering the area and the terrain under the air[port is not flat, causing the line and poly to be drawn at different elevations, the line at the lower one. Remember, these are ground polys and are always drawn at ground level. If this is the cause, a large flatten at ARP elevation should correct the situation. Another possibility is that you have more than one copy of the airport .bgl on your system.

Ok I reloaded my scenery and seems to be fine, thanks for the help

When I use the Pattern option on a ground poly line, the ground poly automatically overlaps the line:confused:

Bastien, I've previously advised you that I can't compile your file without the GP textures you are using. Please provide copies of those custom textures from both the Textures and Textures_Dpy folders.

I have also advised that when I substitute for your textures, there is no issue. I further suggested a couple possible issues. Did you explore those possibilities? Have hou tried adding a flatten as I suggested?

A couple days ago you reported
Ok I reloaded my scenery and seems to be fine
What's changed?

When I use the Pattern option on a ground poly line,
It's not clear what you are trying to tell me. There is no "Pattern" option in ADE-GP

Its the pattern/ style line thing
Do you mean you are using a patterned texture as opposed to a uniform texture. In the screen shots you sent in your previous post, I don't see any difference in comparable shots. Please explain what I am supposed to see that I don't.

could it be a texture problem?
I don't see how. Textures have nothing to do with layering.

There's little more I can do until you send me your custom textures, the result of you having applied a large flatten and explain how, only a couple days ago, everything was "fine".

Sorry for the late answer but here are the textures I use :

As before, your GPs display normally on my system after compiling with PV4. The problem, whatever it is, is local to your system. Once again, possibilities are:
  • another copy of the airport/GPs elsewhere on your system;
  • non-stock terrain data with elevation differences across your airfield; you seem to resist adding a flatten to prove of exclude this possibility; and
  • a new one, incorrectly formatted textures (I notice one of the textures in your Textures_Dpy folder is 32-bit format, not 24-bit. Perhaps some have found their way into your scenery \texture folder.

That's basic ADE stuff. Select the little icon with the bright green poly and than lay out your flatten.
