• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Ground poly position

I tried my first ground poly creation, basically following Bill Womac's tutorial but finishing it with MCX Ground Polygon Wizard. I created a runway in Gmax, compiled the mdl file with FSX gamepack, converted the mdl to bgl with MXC and finally I managed to see it FSX, just that the position of the new runway was about 200m wrong in both directions (according to the default runway that I tried to copy)

I got the default runway center coordinates from ADE and entered them to Ground Polygon Wizard positions. I noticed that the wizard rounded the decimals(like from 40.898551382 to 40.898551) thoug.

So, am I doing right copy/pasting the coordinates from ADE? Or there is a conversion, ecc. that I am missing?

Thanks,
Sunay

Hi,

I will check the rounding in ModelConverterX, I think I increased the number of digits not so long ago.

But that rounding will not give you a 200 meter offset, that will be much less. So I think your coordinates are not correct. Are you sure that you used the right coordinates?

Only an idea, you are sure that the middle of the runway in Gmax is at 0,0,0 and the center of the object is also at 0,0,0
Otherwise you would have that offset.

Thank you Arno, I did the same runway three times with the same result, but I will try another runway to test my procedure and tell the result.
Jörn thank you, but the runway is placed at 0,0,0 in Gmax.

OK, after a good sleep and starting from zero I did two runways with correct placing, so the procedure works :) I had noted the coordinates wrong the first time, as Arno had guessed :) Excitement of the first time I think:)

Thank you Arno, again:)

Modeling the runway in Gmax (taking the runway dimensions info from ADE), applying the textures, exporting the mdl and finishing it in MCX Ground Poly Wizard (again taking the runway center coordinates, altitude and heading from ADE) works like a charm:)

Now I can proceed to taxiways and aprons.

Position ground poly

Hi, Arno!
The position on MCX I put from FSX (shift+z) or to get from ADE?
I my case, it`s -27.2899 and -47.0988, number negatives. Can I put these way in MCX? And altittude?

It`s possible to import a ground poly BGL made with BGLcomp.exe, where I edited the xml with coordenates and to get these data automatically at MCX?

The SCASM there's a version, or any version to work?

Thanks again.
