• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Ground poly texture bleedthrough

Hey,

I've created a ground polygon with sketchup and converted with MCX. All of the textures display fine, however I have an issue with just one. It goes transparent not very far out. All of the textures have the same distance-display setting (10000) and don't appear to go transparent as one moves away (unless extremely far out), but this one does? The screenshot (sorry about the quality) shows the afcad markings displaying through the runway texture. As a note - the other textures (grass) have a level of transparency in the texture (about 70%), but this texture (the asphalt) has 100% opacity. It displays fine when very close. Any ideas?

Hi,

Could it be a flattening issue? Is the entire airport flattened at the same elevation?

Is this in FS2004 or FSX?

I have had a similar issue with ground polygons created for larger airports using SketchUp. You described how you created the polygons with SU and converted them with MCX, but you did not indicate how you place them. I use Instant Scenery 3 while in sim. With IS, you can make incremental adjustments to the elevations of each model of your ground polygon. Incrementally raising the ground polygon that reveals the .bgl runway markings will indeed hide them. During a session, you can also make slight adjustments to the elevation of the airport, using ADE for example. So you could effectively lower the airport .bgl as well. Make an adjustment in ADE, then unload the scenery, save the airport .bgl, reload the scenery and inspect.
