• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FSXA Ground Poly Wizard Errors

I still have to use a 2013 version of MCX to do my ground polys because there's an issue with random triangles of textures being placed all about the place... This has been present for the last several updates of MCX...

The old version works fine. I don't know what's going on here.

Do you have a small sample that illustrates the bug? That makes it easier to debug it for me.

Here's scenery with the .bgl made by MCX. It's KAMA. It's from a .x file made by blender. But I recall it happening with GMAX last time also.

I'll try to have a look. Can you also reproduce it with a smaller sample (just some polygons)? That makes debugging a lot easier.

Hi,

At a glance, I would say that you either:
- lack a flatten that is big enough or
- have some overlapping ground polygons at the same layer.

It's a problem with the Wizard I think. I had it with my other project also. I have to use an old version and it works fine. there's nothing in the model where those triangles of textures appear.

Hi,

To be able to reproduce something in MCX I would need an X file to process. With only the BGL that already has the problem in it I can't fix the wizard.

Sure. But the last one which had this problem was from a mdl. I'll send it to you tonight. Thanks man.

Mdl is also fine, as long as it's the source you use as input for the GPW.

Same solution, come with a simple sample that demonstrates the issue. If possible only a few polygons (if there are thousands of polygons debugging is much harder).

Certainly. Thanks.

Sorry for the late reply. It's strange. I can't replicate this exact problem now, but I have these triangles appearing with both the old and new version of MCX it seems now. I've PM'd you the link with the .x .mdl and texture

Here's an image.

I've never encountered anything like this even with the old version before. So strange!

My solution is pretty limiting but it has worked so far. Try limiting how much you move vertices around. My groundpoly was fine until I started moving the vertices around(trying to fine-tune edges and so on).

What? This is a very low vert poly. Plus the issue here is to do with the noise layer above. These are simple planes.

Welp,I understand but I'm just stating what worked for me. :D

Did you even try the solution and report on it's functionality for your specific problem? Because it sounds like you are saying Arno should fix your problem first.

What solution? I'm having this problem with mcx? And others are too by the seems of it. Might be that it's from blender. But I had a similar issue with a
Mdl from gmax a while ago. Have to use an older version of mcx. But that doesn't seem to be helping here.
