• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

I cannot get more than 4 naterials in the Ground poly wizard, is there a setting to change it or is there a limitation???

regards Jorge

Hi Jorge,

No, there is no limitation on the amount of materials. More than 4 should be supported without problems. If your model has more than 4 textures, they should all show in the list.

Arno, thankyou for the reply, I have a runway with 4 separate teextures and added another and when openingit would not show , I remove one of the existing ones and the new appeared, now I made 1 out of 2 teextures and as they are 4 it works. don't know...

the textures are individual ones as each one applies to a plane, 1 base , 2 lines , 3 and 4 end numbers 5 was rubber marks and that would not show until I made the numbers into one texture and UVW unwrap each one.

Hi,

Sounds more like a problem exporting your runway then. In most cases if the texture is not shown, it is not in the model that you loaded.

Are you use GMax to make the runway? Maybe some conflicting material names?

Well I thought of that , thats why I removed one material and exported again from Gmax and the missing material appeared....the names were 9, 27, runway, white and rubber, rubber would not show, I removed 27 and now rubber shows.

My setup W7 64bit, Gmax, MCX 1.3.0.0r11605 DEV 07-Jun-12

Hi Jorge,

Are you material names the same as the texture names? Having duplicate material names can result in missing textures from the produced MDL.

Else you can send me the MDL to look at. Maybe I can spot something from it.

Hi,

Maybe you can just attach the MDL to the forum? I don't want to sign up to some website just to download a file.

When you post a reply, there is a button manage attachments if you scroll down. That allows you to upload files.

Hi,

Check your GMax file. You have two materials both named "Mtl #0". If you rename one of them, all textures show up in the MDL.

Arno , mate thankyou very much, I would not have found it without your help....Gmax is always a hard one to master

always learning , thankyou again...

I had the same problem a couple months back. Always give your materials a unique name or else it will just fill in where it wants.
