• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Hi:

I have done a polygon in gmax, now I want to see the polygon under the runway, how can i do this?.

I want to see the default runway above the polygon.

Thanks and sorry for my bad english.

Hi,

How did you create the runway? Did you create it with FSSC or AFW? Or are you using Fs2004 and did you use AFCAD2?

I´m using the default runway of fs2004, and I want to see the runway above the polygon.

is it posible?

Thanks

Nope, in that case it is not possible. The ground elements of the XML scenery (runways, aprons, etc) are always drawn before the GMax objects. So you can not get your polygon below the runway.

In that case you would have to use the XML aprons.

Can you explain more about it or said me where can read about this?

Or ...how can I do a new runway what is above the polygon?, and if this is in xml for 2004 better.

Thanks and I hope you understand me.

If you look at a tool like AFCAD2 you will see that you can also draw polygons (aprons) in there. These use the XML coding and can be displayed below your runway.

Another option (but I don't prefer this one), is to use an old style runway, for example placed with FSSC or Airport for Windows. These can be displayed on top of your GMax polygon (after you tweaked the GMax polygon to make it a ground polygon, as described in the tutorials). But I think it is better to stick to the Fs2004 techniques.

Hope this helps a bit,

I know but the problem is that you can´t aply custom textures at the polygons created with afcad2, and I want aply my own textures.

What can I do?

Then I think the only option is to design a custom runway as well. It is just impossible to get your polygons on top of the Fs2004 runway. Or you must use Fs2002 techniques for everything.

Another option?

Hi,

Perhaps it would be possible to make polygons on both sides of the runway, just bordering with it. Using Arno's ObPlacerXML that is almost easy.

Fern

just give your texture an alpha channel. That makes the polygon appear transparent whever black appears in the alpha channel.

Bob

Those two solution could also help indeed, maybe you can tell use what the polygon is used for in the scenery? Then we might be able to give some extra tips.
