• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Gtiff2Quad in the resource section is a new way to directly create MSFS Quad tiles from a geotiff. No need for QGIS to make tiles or for the use of Tiles2Bing. Load the geotiff, select Levels, and the tiles are created to a folder of choice.

Great idea and thank you for your efforts in advance. However, I often need to manipulate the satellite imagery in Photoshop before generating the tiles, coordinate information will be discarded and become a normal .tif file then. Therefore I always need to generate a separate .tfw file as well from QGIS to store the coordinate information. It would be perfect to add the support of loading .tfw files in addition of loading from the .tif file. Just my two cents.

I usually use Paint.net or GIMP for processing the geotiff, but your suggestion is good.

What a splendid app.

I hope FS would allow disabling and enabling packages in a realtime manner to speed up workflow even more.

Could you give me a couple of examples of tiff files with TFW?

Geotiff2Quad Version 3
An updated app. This will allow the use of tiffs that have an accompanying TFW file, instead of an embedded GeoTiff. If a PRJ file is not included, you have a choice of lat-long (EPSG:4326) or Google meters (EPSG:3875).

It also will fake placement via lat-long bounds of a tiff, if there is no TFW. Version 3 hopes to prevent possible smearing of edge tiles.

Thanks for this utility. It worked fine for a small test area I was using to add items at the location of the new terminal at TTCP. I am not interested in permanently replacing the tiles, so color matching is not an issue. However, even though both the original GeoTiff and the PNG tiles have good contrast, when they are added to MSFS 2024, the contrast is too low and the whites are blown out (see attachment). Any thoughts, other than photoshopping the original GeoTiff?

https://www.fsdeveloper.com/forum/threads/custom-aerial-color-troubles.460731/#post-939109 ReColorTiffs.zip is a tool to color match a tiff to samples taken from the Sim's Tile Debug. Basically you screensave and clip what the actual Bing tiles are in the sim for that area (not the viewport, but the aerial tiles the sim uses). The Sim shades the tiles according to time of day and season, and some other influences, so screenshots of the viewport are wrong, but the 256x256 tiles are accurate in the Tile Debug Panel. Just grab a few tile samples and trim them to the actual 256x256
