• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.

Guess that Engine

Good-day folks,

There's some pretty exciting news for the FS community, currently in the works. I'll be sharing an announcement quite soon...

But while we wait, here's the first clue;

Guess that engine!

This is a screen capture of a blender model that I've just created, and UV mapped. I was comparing a few drawings...ahh..it's close enough. It will be complimenting a MAX built payware aircraft for FSX. The aircraft is being finished out this next couple of weeks, in Blender. (Thanks to the excellent service here at FSDev!)

- Take a stab at naming this!
+1 For having a knowledge of the propeller design.

It's a Le Rhône 9C and if fitted to a Sopwith Pup, used a Lang propeller. I don't smoke... but I'm glad the model is complimenting a Max model: good manners are unhappily rare these days

Getting a little closer with the AO, and some texturing.

Next step will be adding FSX material parameters for diffuse/spec and alphas. Maybe a little weathering. :)

Thanks for the comments. The individual rockers/springs and such won't be animated (Though they could be...) because they are essentially hidden from most views anyway, on this model. However the engine as a whole will be quite convincing. :)

The model is a Nieuport 17, for FSX.

I have taken a joint-partnership with Vertigo Studios, to take their projects on to completion. On the roster is the Mosquito, T-33, and B-25. Each of these will be finished out in Blender.
They made official announcement of it today.

This Nieuport is the first on the list, and having just started, I should say we're coming along nicely!

The seam is actually on a UV division. One of those little things that I still get to play with, after the import.

Thanks for the support fellas, it's certainly not possible without you all!

It will certainly be exciting as this begins to progress. I've only had the model for a week, and this is the first export.
