• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

    Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

    By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

OK, so IIUC, according to the above linked FSDev FS2Kx (FSX) SDK Installation Wiki article:

...to use the FS2Kx SDK, MS-XML4.x must be manually installed into a new default installation of Windows 10, and the MS "XML4" link (which is now redirected by MS to ads etc, should instead link to the XML4.x SP3 security update:

Hi Arno:

IIUC, the OP may have browsed and mistakenly selected BGLScan.exe rather than BGLComp.exe in:

MCX > Options > Exporter settings > FSX BGLComp path > 'Open File' dialog ? :scratchch


If so, the default installation path for the (FSX SP2-compatible) L-M P3Dv1.4x BGLComp.exe is: :pushpin:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D SDK 1.4.4747.0\Environment Kit\BGL Compiler SDK\bglcomp.exe


PS: Can MCX add some input verification to fields to check that a specified *.exe name is part of a submitted input field path string ? :idea:

GaryGB thank for all the input. I was able to find here the complete SBuilderX V3.15 package from RhumbaFlappy here at FSDevelopers last night and IT WORKS! I will be able to use it on here whatever "magic" he worked. I'm good there now.
 
thank you Arno and Gary GB. I just replaced in the OPTIONS the bgl.comp location in the SDK instead of the bgl.scan and I just generated a scenery bgl. Thank you all for all the help. Now I have SBuilderX thank you RhumbaFlappy and Model Converter X thank you Arno and Gary GB. I don't have to switch computers for either of them. Sketchup 2017
 
Just in case one of the more obscure features / dialog boxes of SBuilderX later requires a particular VB6 component (not included in Windows 10)...

thanks again Gary GB I will save this download and if I need it I have it. There are links in other posts online for MS stuff that are no longer there so this is being archived for future need if required
