• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Hi Guys:

Thought i would swing past and say hello.

I have joined here because rather than whine about the lack of scenery for the airports that i tend to visit, i though that i should at least have a crack at producing some for myself.

Having read a few of the threads here, i figure that while i am certainly no coder, i'm also not exactly stupid, and i have been doing work related 3d modelling for years in AutoCAD and Sketchup. Hopefully i can get my head around creating some new scenery for FSX and learn a lot more about the inner workings of the sim in the process.

I've made a start by getting myself GMAX, Jon's ADE, and i have also had AFX, and Instant Scenery on the FSX machine for ages, but never used them.

I do what i can to search the forums before i post, but nevertheless, i am sure that i will have a world of stupid questions to ask as i get used to things. If anyone has any absolute must read tutorials or other goodies, then please feel free to point me in their direction. At this stage it is all a little overwhelming!

Anyway, i hope that you all had a good christmas, and heres to a great 2010!

Hi Smiffy and welcome to FS Developer. I am sure that we will do our best the answer any questions you might have. It does us well to remember that we were all beginners once upon a time ;)

Hello-

Welcome to this site :D

PS. You can model in Sketchup and convert into gmax using Model Converter X if you want to continue using sketchup.
