It must be you make the boys nervous , and as it is evident your new to this it’s worth mentioning that " ripping " a model is a contentious issue in this field .
It was until recently impossible to import a complete model into Max/Gmax but a number of advances have allowed FSX models to be converted to mesh and then exported as a .obj or 3ds.
That is something professionals do regularly and its telling that Bill and Felix gave a blanket and unqualified No in response to your question , and while i intend to respect their prudent behaviours , i would mention that getting mesh
into max is the least of the difficulties associated with FSX
model production .
The SDK will still be required reading in addition to going through a great many forums in order to understand the content and developments , refinements and problems uncovered since publication .
Add to that your planned project would require substantial XML coding experience and something of a master in Character animation, your post for a free air marshal has gone unanswered
and doubtless will remain so if i am any judge of history.
You are in the same position as were we all before having done our homework, full of desire and great ideas but not in a position to pursue them because of a lack of information and the skills needed to bring them to life, this is what you are missing , not mesh ... do your homework , study your SDK and included sample files , read through the threads here and at FFDS , if you had you would know what programs are required to import mesh.
The project you have in mind sounds like fun , i have seen it done and am sure that if you were to set about learning to use
Max/Gmax to model a vehicle and a Character we as a group would bend over backwards to lead you through the process ,
but to ask this group to do it for you or for that matter facilitate the ripping of somebody's work is unlikely.
So please understand my point , i am happy to help anybody learn the ropes, as is everybody here .. after all that is why we are members , but experience has shown that a willingness to sweat the details and do the research is absolutely necessary or the effort is wasted.
