• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

I have made a airport for fs 2004 with FSDS v3 and want to release it for FSX. Well this is were things get a litle hard because in FSX the airport looks vierd. It looks transparent.

I have read on a website that the reason why custom made airport buildings in FSX are transparent is because of the LM textures.

In FS 2004 it works fine, so is it realy the LM textures which I should blaim or is the reason something different?

What can be done to fix the transparent addon buildings.

I want to release Vagar Airport for FSX soon but at Dawn, Dusk, Night the textures are transparent. It looks vierd and it only work perfect at day. Dawn, Dusk, Night versions looks not so good. I have Attached a image for night to show you what I get out of it. It is the same at dawn and dusk. Only day works

Help please anyone

Hi

DXT yes it would help, but then I would have to change close to several 100 textures. But yes a good idea. I think I will do that if the update for FSDS does not fix it. But then again, DXT 3 supports alpha and I need it :(

Hi,

I have read on a website that the reason why custom made airport buildings in FSX are transparent is because of the LM textures.

Well: change only the nighttextures into DXT1 without alpha. I had the same problem a few weeks ago. The façade of my building had DXT3 format bitmap and at night I had also transparent buildings. Now it's solved.

Greetz. José.

It's only possible to do this on textures that do not have transparent area though. Also with DXT1 the resolution is not as high as with DXT3.

Hi Again

Hi José Bourgoignie.

Thank you for that info. I will run a test with the airport in backup mode. with the information you have given me to se if that helps for me 2.

I hope it does. I hope that FSDS will have a solution so I can use DXT 3 or 5 textures. If not then I have no joice but to use DXT1 I gues.
