• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Have you downloaded the Wwise Launcher? https://www.audiokinetic.com/download/

You need to download the launcher, run it and then login to your Audio Kinetic account. Once the launcher is up and running click on WWISE at the top of the screen and you should have an option to install two different versions on Wwise. Select the 2019.2.10 version (as it says in the MSFS SDK) and select Install. After it is installed click on the spanner icon and select Create Desktop Shortcut.

Then go to the Plug-ins tab and Add Plug-Ins and make sure you have selected Mastering Suite 2019.2.10 and Wwise Convolution 2019.2.10 and Wwise SoundSeed Air, Wwise SoundSeed Impact 2019.2.10. There's a bunch of other plug-ins that will be installed by default but I unselected all of them except for those 3.

Once you have installed Wwise and the Plugins you don't need to use the Wwise Launcher again and you can use the Desktop Shortcut to run Wwise directly.

You should also create a desktop shortcut for the Wwise File Packager program which you will need to make the MSFS packages. The address for this should be:

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Audiokinetic\Wwise 2019.2.10.7490\Authoring\x64\Release\bin\Tools\FilePackager.App.exe"

Now, make a copy of the WwiseSampleProject folder in the SDK and paste that into your development folder. Use that copy to create your soundbanks. One last thing, make a shortcut to the GenerateSoundBank.bat file as well as you need to run that before you create your packages.

Couple of other points, your sounds can go in Originals/SFX. This is where the sample project has the sounds. When you create a new soundbank a GeneratedSoundBanks folder will be created in your WwiseSampleProject folder and this is where your soundbanks will be placed ready to copy to your aircraft.

It shows as premium but I didn't pay. I'm assuming that MSFS includes the necessary plugin. I understand that Wwise is free if your project is less than $150,000 in value.

Ok, thank you I thing you are correct because I was in contact with someone from Audiokinetic and he wrote me:

If you're developing content for FS2020, your Wwise license for that use is free (courtesy of Microsoft!). So once you have the project approved, you're free to release your content!

Did you register your project on Audiokinetic webside?

Thank you

Hey guys,
I'm a bit confused what the correct version of Wwise would be.
The SDK states at the top of "Asset Creation/Sounds" that 2019.2.5 Build 7349 is required.
A bit further down it claims 2019.2.0 Build 7216 to be the right one.
Which one is correct?

If I recall correctly there were only two options when installing Wwise. One was the 2019 build and the other was 2020 or 2021 (I'm not on the work PC at the moment). I just went with the 2019 build. I will check the exact number later and edit this post.

Thanks Anthony.
Well there's a load of versions on the Wwise site when you hit the "show all" button, but the SDK mentions two different 2019 versions.

I have 2019.2.10.7490 installed. Looking at the Wwise Launcher it gives me the option for 2021.1.1.7601 and 2019.2.11.7512 so it looks like I'm out of date already (I only installed Wwise 3 weeks ago). I think if you go for the latest 2019 version you should be OK regardless of the minor version numbers. The version I have works in MSFS and it is neither of the versions listed in the SDK.
