• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

    Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

    By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Hello community, I am adding an object to the vc of the CA C172N I get the following error:
07:30 p.m. XtoMDL Error error : ModelDef contains duplicate animation name: indicator_fuel_quantity
What am I doing wrong?? Thanks!

Well, at the moment i myself am still busy discovering the possibilities of MCX, but it's clear that modeldef.xml has two animations with's are named indicator_fuel_quantity. It could be the one in your SDK, but more likely the problem is in the merged model of your C172N.

You can look at the modeldef.xml of the cessna by clicking on the tenth button on the second row of MCX, the on with the white tophalf and yellow bottomhalf (it all so displays the tooltip modeldef.xml editor when your mouse pointer is over it).

Every animation in a modeldef has two sections. The first one tells MCX that there is a animation named indicator_fuel_quantity, it;s GUID, length and a few other things and looks like this.

<Animation name="indicator_fuel_quantity" guid="6585fbde-d8bb-479b-81f1-3f852946c1b2" length="100" type="Sim" typeParam2="indicator_fuel_quantity" typeParam="AutoPlay" />

second section tells MCX what it does and looks like this.

<PartInfo>
<Name>indicator_fuel_quantity</Name>
<AnimLength>100</AnimLength>
<Animation>
<Parameter>
<Sim>
<Variable>FUEL TANK CENTER LEVEL</Variable>
<Units>position</Units>
<Scale>100</Scale>
</Sim>
</Parameter>
</Animation>
<MouseRect>
<Cursor>Hand</Cursor>
<HelpID>HELPID_GAUGE_FUEL_PERCENT</HelpID>
<TooltipID>TOOLTIPTEXT_CENTER_FUEL_PERCENT</TooltipID>
</MouseRect>
</PartInfo>

With modeldef.xml editor you can search and rename or delete a duplicate animation entry. Hopefully that will solve your problem. No guarantees, like i sad i'm still experimenting myself.

Thanks for your time, the error was in the SDK, I needed to update to SP1a for Flight Simulator Steam Edition, again thank you very much Albert!!
