• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

    Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

    By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

HELP...needed badly

Hi everbody :)

I am in a very desperate situation. :eek: I thought maybe someone here knows what is happening to my FSX setup and can help.

Suddenly all my airports around the world - no matter if default or payware - are not flat anymore and have mesh ground breaking through the airport area.

I have been using FSGenesis for 4 years now whithout any trouble and I didnt install any new mesh lately - so that can't be the problem.

Does anyone know why my airports are not flat and covering ground like they are supposed to?

I turned off all my payware scenery and shot a picture of CYVR Vancouver Intl. with terrain coming through. (I also turned of autogen to stop houses and trees to show).

Hi there,

maybe your mesh settings are too low. Try increasing the Mesh density.

I found the culprit!

It was in the Terrain.cfg with a corrupt entry line (missing a separating Return) - causing a FlattenMode=flat not to work correctly.

Well Bob, a fellow at SimForums (QuantumLeap) noticed that the unflat airports also had no grass ground, which they should have. He suggested looking in the Terrain.cfg which is generally responsible for the grass and flattening of airports to see if something is wrong.

I then noticed that one of the airport texture paragraphs had it's <FlattenMode=flat> command attached to another command line instead of being alone on a new line. That prevented the flattening of all airports in FSX!

That must of happened after I edited that file at an earlier time. My com puter saved my edit in a corrupt way.

Thank God I found that mistake!
