• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

hi i was wondering if someone could help me.

i was wondering how do i set my custom 747-400 planes to be seen in the airport beside the default one.

can someone help me?

You want to use it as AI?
You can do that with AIFP. See their fourm at this site. The problem is that coustom planes (planes created as user aircraft) can cause a big performance hit when used as AI. Unless these are repaints of default planes.

yeh they are just repaints. would i stil need the AIFP if they are just repaint planes?

That's the way I do it. I have repaints of default planes then the default flightplan makes them show up at airports. But you have to replace default textures rather than just add them to the folder.

could you please help me? sorry for the hassle.

how do i get the repaint default planes to show up on at the default flights plan.
and how do i replace the default texture and which folder do i put them in?

jason

thanks

Here is one way to do it. This is for FSX, but FS9 is similar.

1. Make a backup copy of yor Aircraft folder. I have replaced three default 737 textures. The other 737s are not used as AI.

B. I have downloaded an American Airlines repaint. There is a texture folder in the download. The name of the folder in my download is "texture. AA". Copy that folder into the main 737_800 folder. FSX/SimObjects/Airplanes/B737_800.

3. In the 737_88 folder, open "aircraft cfg" in notepad.

D. the cfg file is divided into sections with heading like "fltsim.0" , "fltsim.1", and so on. Scroll down to "fltsim.1".

5. Line 6 of that section says "texture=" blank or some number. change the line to read "texture=AA", or the name of the folder you added.

F. Scroll down to the "atc_airline" entry. change that line to say "atc_airline=American". Now ATC will call "American" instead of what was there before.

7. Change "ui_variation=" to "ui_variation=American Airlines". Now American Airlines will show up on yor select a plane page.

I have "fltsim.2" as Delta, and "fltsim.3" as United.

I see those 737s at all airports as used by the default flightplan.

I think most people use addon AI systems because they tend to be more like real world flightplans. Also they tend to use FS9 AI planes which are easier on frame rates.

I don't care about real world schedules. Unless FS9 planes have been modified, they do not have proper exit locations so that jetways will attach to them. Some people don't care about that, but I do.

Same can be done for other airplane types.

Good luck.

Bob
