• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Hey all,

Thought i would post some upto date screens of my 1st model, the ship HMS Ocean :) it's been a learning curve but i'm happy with the progress so far. My only fear is how it will impact the fps once the thing has textures, at present it runs very smooth on my poor little machine which is P4 3Ghz, 1.5gig ddr1 ram and agp 8x gfx and running FSXA :) BASys if you read this checkout the re-modelled bridge wing which is more like the real thing and the now modelled Phalanx's on the bow and at the rear :)

Hi Folks

Stealthbloke -
Nice Phalanx :D
and bridge wing much enhanced.

Looking excellent,
& definitely a candidate model suitable for release.

For any possible future enhancement releases -
Don't know how much detail you wish to implement,
but here's some possible additional resources.

Hi-res port side image albeit slightly oblique.

Hi-res oblique port quarter.

And a high bow-on oblique.

Lights on fwd face of bridge are set to cover wide angles.

IRL, IIRC,
only from dockside observation, (low angle perspective),
she's not a particularly elegant hull.

Apart from her bow,
for ease of construction,
she's quite a 'boxy' boat,
her hull's mainly flat surfaces & hard chines.

Wow A Beautiful carrier for the RN. Please keep us updated. And yes well done on the Phalanx:).

Thanks for the comments guys, believe it or not those phalanx's only took me about 6hrs to complete :D Thanks for the extra links there BASys especially the high res and the one of the deck, that will certainly help when it comes to texturing. I know what you mean about the hull its something thats been bugging me since i started, i have tried a couple of times to get it looking the way it should but keep running into trouble :( It was hard enough trying to figure out a way to model the hull as one piece to begin with, especially with no modelling experience. I shall probably have another crack at it though because it is a big feature of the ship :) Will post more screens soonish hopefully :p
