FSXA How accurate can an effect placement be?

Hello everyone,

I have made an object (a lightpole) in gmax and exported it in .MDL. I imported the .MDL file in MCX attached an effect and positioned it to the correct place.
Here is the screenshot of the MCX.

I placed the object many times in my airport by using coordinates and .xml code.
After exporting I realized that the effect is not at the position that I placed it.
I assumed that this is a problem related to the bug of effects placement that FSX has (according to MCX manual) so I decided to place the object one time by using MCX object place wizard.
The result is almost the same.
As you can see the effect is slightly to the right.

I wonder if this is a result of a mistake that I do through the procedure or if this is a matter of accuracy of the effect placement in general.

To be honest I tried to do the same by attaching an effect through GMAX but the result was the same.

Any ideas?

Open your fx file with Arno tool - FXEditor. Change to night mode and post the screenshot. Maybe smth is wrong with UV maping of your texture.

Hello _pawel and thanks for the advise!

I have replaced my effect with other effects that works fine @ other sceneries and the problem remains. I insist that this has to be a problem with the positioning and not the effect itself (or its texture) due to the fact that in some lightpoles the effect is in the correct position and in some others not.
I will try to do the positioning by exporting one file with all the lightpoles through gmax and place it AFTER correcting earth curvature by using MCX.

If there are any more ideas for the problem they are more than welcome.

Hi @manwlo,

I know that I am a little late but could you ever solve your problem? I am experiencing the same things and wonder, how I can place my effects accurately!

Hi
The most accurate way is the following. I don't place the effect in the 3d object and then export them all together. I place the effects separately using an .xml file. I use the coordinates I get from TCalcX (https://www.fsdeveloper.com/forum/threads/tcalcx.4273/).
