• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

How do you use Gmax to create planes?

I'm new to Gmax, and i would like to know how to create my own plane using Gmax.

Your first step is getting familiar with gmax.

Do you have FS2004? If yes, I suggest you start with the "House" tutorial in the FS2004 SDK. It is easy and gets you familiar with gmax.

I'll preface Rhett's post and emphasize that since you're NEW to gmax, go through ALL the "House" tutorials before you get to the <cough> P-38 tutorial.

Of course, you will end up with a nice P-38, but that's not going to get it into FS2004 (or FS-X).

THAT's when you come back and post in the Aircraft Design Forum so that the many fine modellers that frequent fsdeveloper.com can help you on your journey.

You will be assimilated, there is no return once you go down the path of modelling... in no time at all you will be salivating at the thought of adding that tiny knob to the panel ... just one more...`:)

funny..I assumed the op wanted to know how to make a plane...and I was prepared to point out that gmax has a basic primitive called plane...just click it and place it using either keyboard entry or mouse clicks with drag. You can choose how many segments in the length or width...

Course it appears the op's real goal was to learn how to create an (AIR)plane...which is a tad more complex.

Enjoy the tuts...

Bob
