• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

MSFS20 How to add fictional airport to search menu?

Hi all,

I'm creating a small real life airport that isn't in the game by default. I've created the project and made some changes, but I can't get the airport to show in the list of choosing a departure airport. The videos I've been following seem to just drop the scenery package in the community folder, and then the airport shows up in the search menu. I've tried that and it doesn't seem to work. Most of the videos are from late 2020, so maybe something has changed since then? So, I would like to know how to get an airport to show in the search menu, if it's not in the game by default. Thanks for any advice!

Yes, it technically doesn't have an ICAO code, just a LID, but I've tried both the LID and a random ICAO code, neither show up in the menu.

Update: I managed to figure it out through cobbling together some other forum Q&A posts. I deleted the Content.xml file at "C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft Flight Simulator" and let the sim rebuild it on next start. The airport was in the menu and I was able to spawn at it. I'd read that Content.xml stores addon sceneries and sometimes it doesn't update properly. I guess that's what happened here.
