• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

How to exclude a default VOR?

Hello everybody.

I am a total beginner in scenery design. My first work was to change the VOR SDG on default airport EDDS and add the new VOR STG.
I first set an exclude rectangle “exclude all objects” over the existing VOR SDG, than I placed the new VOR STG.
I compiled the file and now I have both VOR in FSX. It seems that my exclude didn't work.

Has anybody an idea what I have done wrong?

Thanks a lot for your help.
Best regards

Stefan

Basically you cannot delete or exclude default navigational aids. you can however move them.

An exclusion rectangle will not remove any sort of navaid. They work on things like library objects, generic buildings, effects and windsocks

Good morning gentlemen,

I have run into bit of a problem here.

I am looking to remove NDBs and co-located marker from a scenery. However, I ran into a little problem here. There is an add-on scenery present, however, its AF file does not contain them at all - neither does it contain ILS.

My best guess is, that these navaids are loaded from default file - APsomething.dll.

Now how do I go about disabling them? For starters, with NDBs, I would be content with making the range zero, but again, not present within supplied AF file. What do I do? Will copying them over from default and then modifying suffice?

Should I copy them over, and move them to the middle of the Atlantic, will that work?

If anybody had played with this, any information would be appreciated. Other than that, I guess I will just have to try and play with it when it gets high enough into the workflow.

note: this should ideally work in both FS9 and FSX.

Basically you can't remove or disable stock navaids and markers. If you want to change the range then you can do that. I do not use FSX Planner and it is now no longer supported by the developer. Alternatives would be to use ADE or AFX. These should allow you to edit the properties of navaids. FS does not honor all the edits however. Also do not try to move them. They may move a bit but will then duplicate.

AFAIK you can do nothing with markers.

All right then, zeroing them will have to suffice.

btw. I posted here cause this seemed to be the closest thing to my problem. Since the issue is not program-specific, I figured I can just post here. I use ADE btw. thank you, excellent tool.
