• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

....and you know what i'm asking about from this picture:

Got some upcoming airports that will only be 100% accurate if it can be figured out how to make a taxiway bridge.

"treeman" is correct. The "roadway" is the result of adding a flatten polygon to force it x' below ground level, probably with sloped polys added at both ends to bring it back up to ground level.

The taxiway bridge is a 3d model, with a platform polygon attached to allow the AI and user aircraft to taxi across.

Rather by accident once I discovered that you can use the Exclude Airport Background poly tag to dissociate the underlying terrain from the airport surfaces ( I even managed to bury my runway underground)

A custom Gmax model and a taxipath ( no surfaces drawn) and I'd say you're away.

Now that I look at it, isn't there some airport that has a "glitch" like this?

I mean that the terrain is messed up arround the airport, but the taxiways and runways are on one level. if you go off the runway or taxiway, your plane falls off of it?

I have been trying to figure out how to do this without having to make a model (aint doing that) and just using ADE and FS runways/taxiways and a library object or two....... I want to do this at my airport.. So far, not much luck... But, I am almost positive that the answer is there...and can be done without hours of work...

All you need is an extrusion bridge with an apron path on top.

Here is an AI Baron taxiing out over a bridge:

Unfortunately, it doesn't quite work. Even with a zero-width apron link, the ground is drawn up to the bridge level :o
