• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

HUD texture type

I am not really an expert on this, so I thought someone here is probably good.
There are 2 textures for the HUD, one is designated and used in the "hardware" mode, and the other is not. Which one of the textures below is the hardware texture and what are the differences that defines it as the "hardware" texture: (A or B?)

It is really hard to answer a question like this without more detail, such as what aircraft and what do you mean by "hardware" mode is this context.
Small point, but that display looks like a HDD (Head Down Display), not a HUD (Head Up Display)

Roy,

The AC is F22. The display (above) is used in both the HUD virtual cockpit and the HDD. This is from an older flight sim. product, which has been extracted for modifications. The extraction revealed a complete set of unused files hidden with many additional unused files (no src). Many of the graphics files, such as the one in question above, are part of a new set which were extracted to a previously undocumented and unused directory. The directory name is "Hardware.tm" and all the files have a common and unique characteristic which distinguishes them from the textures normally used in the game. One of my theories is that these texture files were written for an unimplemented hardware mode that could perhaps utilize a different set of shaders, transformation processes, etc (dll proxy?). than the stock game. I have found, for example, a previously unused transformation matrix and other clues, however, I am not sure exactly how to put all these pieces together, but I am making some progress.
