Hi,
Simple question, so perhaps I'm being dense and there is an easy way to do this, but how do I tell the difference between a DXT3 and DXT5 textreu quickly? HD sized textures and/or unmipped/mipped are easy to find by just listing the file size, but as far as I can tell, there is no size difference with DXT 3 vs 5. Is there, for example, a way to script Imagetool to only 'do something' if the source file is DXT5? I know I can open it in DXTBMP and look, but that counts as a slow method...
The reason: I run FS2004 with a lot of custom AI traffic, and one of the common reasons for crashes I think recently is repainters uploading their textures as FS2004 compatible, but forgetting to convert and leaving them as DXT5 - this 100% crashes FS9 (at least on my system). I usually use an imagetool script to batch convert before installing, and then the alpha-checker to re-apply stripped alpha textures, but I would still like to be able to quickly check my texture files for any stray DXT5 that got through the net...
Thanks for any ideas on this!
Geoff
