• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

    Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

    By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Which .cfg file contains the low throttle or idle setting? I have a model that is almost impossible to land because the throttle off rpm is too high. It floats the whole length of the runway. I found this setting once before, but neglected to document what I changed, and can't reproduce what I did.

First, check to see how much thrust the propeller is generating at the lowest rpm. If there is no (or less than zero) thrust then changing the rpm isn't going to make a bit of difference to the floating.

But if you do want to change the minimum RPM you want to look at the engine_mechanical_efficiency_table and the engine_friction_table. Both are related. You may be able to get away with changing the engine_friction_table first.

Note, these parameters are in [PISTON_ENGINE] in the engines.cfg. For any other engine I don't know. Might help if you specified the engine type when asking these sorts of questions because piston, turbo prop and jet engines have different parameters.
 
Thanks for the suggestions. I don't want to change the thrust/power factors as the airplane flies fine and I don't want to affect that. I just want low throttle to be at a lower RPM. This is an internal combustion engine in an FSX plane that has been converted to MSFS. If flew fine in FSX, but in MSFS low throttle keeps it right about stall speed. I'm sure I changed something once before to solve this problem, but I installed an updated model and lost my changes because I forgot I had done that (I remember it was in a .cfg file). Will make sure to save the changes should I ever figure it out again!
