• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

If i create a scenery --- for fs9 and then want it in fsx is it hard to make it for fsx or not if it was for fs9 before ?

ALSO WE ARE NOW LOOKING FOR A SCENERY DEVELOPER FOR FSX there are a total of 4 of us so far

The answer to your question is that it all depends. In most cases scenery created for FS9 should work in FSX. However there are some features in FSX not found in FS9 and obviously you will not get those. Also due to other changes such as the 'round earth' model some things may not look right.

It is really a case of try it and see. It will also depend on exactly what is in your scenery e.g. mesh, landclass, airport data, library objects, autogen and so on

Hi,

As Jon said it really depends on the type of scenery elements you are creating. But in general if you keep the differences in mind while designing the scenery, it is very well possible to make a scenery that works in both versions.

It might require that you make some changes already with FsX in mind (for example keeping ground polygon vertices at most 100 meter from each other). Or that you keep in mind that the Fs2004 MDL format does not show materials with only color and no texture correctly in FsX. That might mean you have to design with only textures if it should work in both versions.

These are just some examples, there are a lot more. But if you know the differences it is certainly possible.
