• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Import from XPlane 12

I see that MCX is mostly focussing on MSFS like simulators. Nevertheless, importing XPlane .obj files is available as well.
However, when inspecting more recent XPlane 12 models, tags such as "ANIM_hide" or "ATTR_light_level" seem unsupported:

Is there a chance to add support for these entities in a future MCX release ?
Thx a lot, - Michael -

Hi Michael,

I would have to check in the X-Plane documentation what these commands do. But if possible I can try to add support.

Thanks, Arno, not urgent. Seeing these messages I initially thought that the import would be incomplete for the analysis I wanted to make - but thats not the case.
So maybe just keep these items in mind for future updates to the xplane plugin. Btw., I linked the XPlane .obj file doc for reference.

Hi,

I have started adding these additional commands. For the ANIM_hide and ANIM_show I do have an implementation now, but having a simple object to test if it works correctly would be helpful. Do you happen to know a simple object I can test with?

For the ATTR_light_level and ATTR_light_level_reset I will just let MCX ignore them. The functionality to control the light level of emissive textures is not something other simulators have so it does not make that much sense to convert that.
