• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FS2004 Increase visual range of custom GPs

Scruffy, or anyone else....Is there a way to increase the visual range of the custom ground polys? I didn't see anything in the documentation, and nothing in the settings....I know with GPs thru MCX you can set the visual range, but not thru ADE....Is there a way to do this? The reason I ask is that GCFV is not visible until right up on the airport...

IIUC, you are referring to Fuerteventura Airport (IATA: FUE, ICAO: GCFV):

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fuerteventura_Airport

Summary
Airport type
Public
Operator Aeropuertos Españoles y Navegación Aérea
Serves Fuerteventura
Location Puerto del Rosario
Elevation (AMSL) 26 m / 86 ft

NOTE: FS2004 default ICAO: GCFV airport scenery Elevation at RWY 1 / 19: 21.9450073242 Meters ;)

Coordinates
17px-WMA_button2b.png
28°27′10″N 013°51′50″W

Runways

Direction;
Length: Meters / Feet; Surface
01L/19R 2,140 / 7,021 Asphalt (closed)
01R/19L 3,406 / 11,175 Asphalt

FYI: You may be able to import the ADE-GP into MCX for modification, then re-export it via MCX to BGL (for use in FS2004).

Disappearing ground polys are often related to elevation, e.g., GPs not being placed in flattened areas or in areas flattened at an elevation different from the ARP. The GP compiler options address the latter. Not much we can do about the former. Without a screenshot, we have no way of even guessing what is the difficulty in your case.

In the case of ADE custom GPs, the visibility is set to maximum (10000m) at compilation time, so it's not clear what you can do with MCX to improve upon that. Of course, you can decrease the range with compiler options to improve processing efficiency.

Don-Thanks, I will try to get you screens soon. There is a flatten with the elevation that is the same as the ARP. There is no flickering or the such. For example, the custom GPs "pop" in about 1/4 of the way on the approach. Since my runways and markings are all custom GPs, it makes it really hard to make a visual line up on the approach.
