• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

I used modelconverterx a while back and all worked wonderfully. I have recently rebuilt my system and have installed the latest package but when loading any aircraft models...all the textures seem to fail to load and the aircraft is a black & white checker box......this is most probably something silly I'm doing wrong, but can anyone give me some pointers into setting this up properly.

all the best

Yes, there are a bunch of people already that have done the same, incluiding myself, look at "Livery" at right hand, if the aircraft have more than one folder of textures, you have to choose there. :D

Hmmm, done that but it actually says it failed to load the textures from the object renderer.

yep, done that, i think......there are quite a few areas within the options settings, and even after reading thru the manual, i'm thinking that everything is ok.....unless i've overlooked an area.

Can you run thru what each of the settings tabs should be....general, renderer, importer, exporter etc.....would be a great help.

p.s
I can put i screen shots of each of my tabs.....

Yes, at first as always one get a little lost, well, where you have to take a look is in ..options...FS related settings, texxture settings exporter settings etc, and see if the path are rights, just to check. It's a great tool and very helpfull.

I see all correct, I guess you have installed and fsx where is said there in the tabs. Another question, have you make sure the Sdk itself work ?, have you the tools menu inside Fsx game , could be the problem begin there, never know.

Thats something i hadn't done, to be honest, not too familiar with the sdk, so ran the configSDK. starting up both fsx and modelconverterx to see if thats made any difference.....

ok, sdkconfig seemed to find FSX, but not seeing any tools menu within FSX itself.

All right, that is the bad signal, once you see the menu tool you will be certain that all is right, so you have to make the Sdk work, take a look at Sdk installation thread here, and not worry, people have a lot of problem to make Sdk work. but once it is installed properly all work like a charm.
In that case problably you have to edit the dll file, this is in user/username/ roaming/Microsoft/Fsx ...(with the true false issue), or even to change the directory for Sdk installation.

Hi Trev,

While you are still in the process of rebuilding your system, I like to suggest something. Your OS seems to be 64bit - most likely Win7, right?

You should consider to remove and re-install your FlightSimulator and the SDK into some other folder than "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\..." (for example "C:\Microsoft Games\..." would be just fine) while you are still in the process of configuring the system.

Although "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\..." is what the MS installer suggests, it is a bad choice because the protection mechanism MS has introduced for the program folder are contra-productive when it comes to the frequent changes and compiles that are typical for FSX and the SDK.

Experience has shown that many errors and weirdos can be avoided by having the installation anywhere except below "C:\Program files\...".

Hey there Martin,
Yes 64bit windows 7 installation.
My fsx is loaded into c:\fsx as recommended by others some time in the past but the sdk is standard ms defaults. Maybe that could be the problem, also, looking to get all the pre-reqs done, win7 already has net2 as part of it, so cannot install that....but the one thats concerning me is the vcredist package. From the link on the sdk installation thread, i'm not too sure what one to download and install, the package i see is a german language installer.

Are there any direct links on any threads that you may know of for the pre reqs needed at the correct version....sounding confusing how this is being typed but trying to figure the best way to word it.

all the best

My fault - I stopped reading your screen shots after the FS9 folder which starts with C:\Program Files\... ;)

C:\FSX is great. It might be indeed that your SDK installation into Program Files is causing your problems. Since it seems to be messed up anyway I suggest that you remove the SDK via the Control Panel and re-install it outside the Program Files structure.

Tell us if this fix your issue. Only if not I would start to dig deeper.

Hi,

Is the problem solved by now or still there?
