• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Introducing Development Release 3.4.3.14(b)

Not open for further replies.
I have just released Version 2.2.18. It's main "claim to fame" is that it fixes a shortcoming in the installer that prevented any 32-bit files (like the "prop" file in many repaint archives) from being installed unless 32-bit textures generally were being installed. Several other fixes are included. (Please see the version history document for details.)

The update should be automatically detected the next time you run AIFP. If it is not, you can download it directly from http://stuff4fs.com.

Development Release 2.2.18(d) now available at http://stuff4fs.com . It fixes all issues reported to date. As well, it fixes Collect Airports and a couple Traffic Analyser functions for P3Dv2 operation that escaped my attention when adding P3D compatibility.

I have just released Version 2.2.19. As well as fixing a few minor bugs, it adds automatic FL assignment for new flight plans. (Please see the version history document for details.)

AIFP has received a facelift!

Gone are the separate opening screens for the flight plan/repaint installer and the flight plan editor. The flight plan editing controls have been moved to a separate dialog. A new, single Main Panel serves both the installer and editing functions. Most of the controls on the old installer panel remain on the new Main Panel. Functions related to those buttons that have been removed are now accessed via the main menu bar.

All dialogs than can benefit from it, including the Main Panel, are now resizable. Location and size of most dialogs is now saved, both intra- and inter-session. So they will re-open as they were when last closed. You should also find more consistency in operation across all dialogs. For example, a double-click on any Flight Plan, Airport or Aircraft List item opens a suitable editor. Hovering the mouse over any such list item displays a tool tip including more information on the item. A right-click on any such item selects that item and presents a context menu of common operations for that item. The full compliment of operations is, of course, always available from the main menu bar. There is no longer a Download/Install/Substitute Individual Repaints on the Main Panel. To open the Missing ACs dialog, double-click on a missing aircraft in the Aircraft List or right-click for substitute.
Overall, functionality is nearly identical. Nothing has been removed. There are a few minor enhancements, particularly in the handling of bulk traffic files. As well, a few Version 2 issues that were noticed during development have been resolved.

The Version 3 user manual has been extensively reorganized and revised, combining the two earlier manuals and also adding illustrations of most dialogs and lots of "how to" text. Adjusting to the changes should be largely intuitive. If you do have difficulty, please first refer to the user manual before asking for help.
Enjoy,
Don

EDIT: My website was moved to a new server, recently and, it seems, the automatic update service no longer works. So, for the moment, you will not be automatically updated to version 3. However, you may obtain Version 3 directly from the Latest General Release menu item on the AI Flight Planner page at http://stuff4fs.com.

Auto-update is active once again. For those of you who haven't already obtained Version 3.1.00, it should be detected and download offered the next time you start AIFP.

Version 3.1.01 uploaded to http://stuff4fs.com. It should be automatically detected the next time you run AIFP.
An update was needed to avoid an exception being thrown when you attempted to create a new weekly flight plan and to correct a Day 1 issue just discovered. Hopefully, that's the last one for a while.

It seems a gremlin has crept into AIFP 3. Things that worked only a day or so ago, including tooltips, now have problems. 3.1.02 ASAP.

Don

It turns out the "gremlin" wasn't as severe as I thought. The tooltips problem was a Windows issue introduced by some Windows updates automatically installed on my system overnight. There was an issue if the first leg of a new weekly flight plan flew on more than one day. As well, the scrollbar on the FP Editor Aircraft List was "misbehaving".

Development Release 3.1.01(a) just uploaded to http://stuff4fs.com fixes both issues. I intend to make a new general release as soon as it is confirmed that the fixes are adequate.

I have just posted Development Release 3.1.02(a) to http://stuff4fs.com. It fixes a problem in 3.1.02 whereby you were unable to delete legs from the Leg List in the FP Editor.

If you have a need to delete legs, please use the development release.

Don

I have just uploaded Development Release 3.1.02(b) to http://stuff4fs.com. It fixes the "delete legs" issue and several other "fiddley" things.

I'm awaiting a response re a report about an exception when editing a flight plan. Once I receive that and fix as necessary, I'll make a new general release.
Don

Unfortunately, 3.1.02(b) didn't fix everything. I've just posted Development Release 3.1.02(c) at http://stuff4fs.com. It fixes everything I've been able to find. Addition/deletion and editing of flight plan legs now seems "solid".

Version 3.1.03 uploaded to http://stuff4fs.com. It should be automatically detected the next time you run AIFP.

This new release contains fixes for all the issues reported in Version 3 the past couple of weeks and (hopefully) brings Version 3 to the same level of stability as Version 2 when it was replaced.

Version 3.1.05 uploaded to http://stuff4fs.com. It should be automatically detected the next time you run AIFP.

This new release contains fixes for several minor issues previously available only in development releases. As well, it allows the airline logo image in flight plan .zip files to be in either .gif or .png format.

I have just uploaded Version 3.1.06 to http://stuff4fs.com. It should be automatically detected the next time you run AIFP.

P3D v2.5 was released a few days ago. It uses a new scheme to specify the SimObjects folders. Version 3.1.06 handles this. The new release also includes a couple minor enhancements (see the enclosed Version History).

I have just uploaded Version 3.1.07 to http://stuff4fs.com. It should be automatically detected the next time you run AIFP.

Version 6 and its predecessors exhibited several issues likely to be encountered when generating a traffic file for a version of FlightSim not installed on the user's system. Unfortunately, in the first development release for Version 7, I introduced an additional problem that could cause difficulties with any compile for which the Compile Parameters were not set immediately before. Version 7 addresses all those issues.

Don

It seems that during the final processing of Release 3.1.07 I inadvertently undid one of the changes necessary to compile for a not-installed version of Flightsim.

Development Release 3.1.07(b), now available from http://stuff4fs.com, fixes.
Don

I have just uploaded Version 3.1.08 to http://stuff4fs.com. It should be automatically detected the next time you run AIFP.

Unless you are converting to FSX-SE or are preparing traffic files for versions of FlightSim not installed on your system, you won't notice any difference from 3.1.07. But, for new SE users, it was easier to fix the problem than to try to explain the workaround.

Please see the included Version History for details.

Don

I have just uploaded Version 3.1.09 to http://stuff4fs.com. It should be automatically detected the next time you run AIFP. This new release contain only fixes for a few recently-discovered minor issues (details in the included Version History).

I expect to be away from my development system for most of the next few weeks and will be unable to make further updates during that time. In the unlikely event you encounter an issue with 3.1.09 that makes it unusable, you can revert to 3.0.08(b) - the most recent development release that has had the benefit of some testing - by going to the AIFP page at http://stuff4fs.com and clicking on the Development release menu item.

I have just uploaded Version 3.1.10 to http://stuff4fs.com. It should be detected automatically the next time you run AIFP. This new release contains a couple of fixes and several noteworthy enhancements:
  • the Aircraft Editor now allows you to view and edit every [Fltsim.n] block entry and every other item in an aircraft.cfg file;
  • the two Timetable functions (Flight Plan menu and Traffic Analyser) now display the airline name in addition to the flight number. As well, the Flight Plan menu initiated version is now fully resizeable;
  • the Files/Open Timetable data file function, which allows you to create flight plans from timetable data in a variety of formats has been extensively re-worked to overcome some earlier difficulties;
  • you may now optionally select that most large lists be displayed with alternating background colors for easier viewing.
Please refer to the included Version History for additional detail.
