• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Introducing myself.

Hello folks.
This is my first time here and want to introduce myself.
My name is Sergio Kauffman and I'm from Mexico. I've been
in simulation in a pasive way since two years ago...till now.
I've enjoyed very much the hardwork from many skilled guys outhere (perhaps, many of you). Now, I am thankful enough to start working in the opposite way.

Mainly, I'm interested in sounds and creating sound packs.
I have some experience on it. But, I basicaly have not any knowledge about modeling aircrafts or gauges.

So, my goal is to gather this skills and "send it back" to everybody who want it (if it's good enough). I have my mind open to any feedback. For example, Where should I begin in order to learn about anything about creating new gauges?

Thank you for reading.
Kindest Regards, your friend Sergio Kauffman.

Hi Sergio and welcome to our forums. I think you can find the answers to most of your questions by asking them here or by looking in the WIKI.

Ohhh my...
I've just posted this about a few secs.
Nice to meet you John and thank you very much. I've been reading the forums... and seems to me development
is only for genious who have many expertice programming in many languages. I really hope -with a lot of work- to begin only in this wonderful world (very new to me). I could handle some things... not all. This is because I'll need to learn new programming tools before even to think on some new designs. I'm wondering if I really should be here? I'll become an annoyance?

Affectionately, Sergio Kauffman.

Of course you will not be an annoyance. We all started like you did. Places like this are certainly also aimed at helping new people to start enjoying this great hobby :).

Hello Arno, thank you for your kindly words and the warm welcome.
I have been "roaming" across many posts here. First,
I tought to create gauges on XML format. Nevertheless,
I found one which made me think C# or C++ is a better
choice. I'll recall my "rusty" and very poor abilities in
this language.

I want to create VEMD's, MFD's, FADEC, HSI and ADI for Bell 430 as an opencode and freeware stuff (with no sounds). I'm an early C language user; I was able to create pretty descent sprites in DOS versions...Now, I'm not familiar with object orientation used in this language. Seems to me this could be a nightmare instead a "hobby" for me. I read some about XML codes and are logical to me (I still have the C logic in my mind).

I'm a FS9 user, and perhaps when I finally achieve this gold, the sim will be like Packman nowadays (LOL). Any toughts? Thanks a lot. :banghead:

Kindest Regards, Sergio Kauffman.

Sergio, welcome to FSDeveloper.com. Might I suggest that if you have C experience, you might begin your journey by first setting up a C development environment, then compiling the sample gauges in the SDK to "get your feet wet" so to speak.

A good place to begin would be my dedicated forum hosted by http:\\flightsim.com cleverly called the "Panel and Gauges" forum... ;)

There I have sticky posts anchored with information on how to set up and use the MSCV++ .NET 2003 IDE, as well as the free version of MSVC++ Express Edition.

In addition there are other posts showing how to set up and compile the sample gauges from the SDK.

If you prefer to work with XML, then the forum at http://avsim.com "Aircraft and Panel Design" is an excellent resource. Also, there is an excellent series of tutorials available at http:\\fs2x.com

:D:D

Wonderful. Thank you very much for that,n4gix. Indeed, i want to become an efficent gauge developer; neverthelees this first stage (re-learning C in newest versions) it'll take to me some time. I'm pretty sure the final result will be great. I've noticed that many of you are very, very clever guys and many of you are professionals who are highly focused on this expertice area.I'm thankful for your patience.

Affectionately, your "very newbie" friend Sergio Kauffman.
