• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Issue With Textures Within A Sub Folder

I'm not sure if this is a known issue but I am having problems when exporting objects where the item uses multiple textures within a texture sub folder. What is happening is the object opens with the textures and appropriate texture folder as expected but when the item is exported, the folder is stripped out from the texture path leaving the texture name on it's own.

The following screen shots of the Material Editor illustrate my point.

This is the item when loaded for editing.

In this case the texture is in a texture folder titled 365f MAS

And here is the same item after being exported with MCX.

Now the sub folder containing the texture has been removed from the texture name.

Preliminary tests indicate that P3D V2 may not handle textures structured in this way so more work may be required there as well. If this is not resolved, then we will not be able to use Don Grovestine's Static Aircraft Model Maker which relies heavily on the use of sub texture folders.

Hi,

In the exporter settings in the XWriter section you find an option called OnlyWriteTextureNames. The default value for this option is true, but when you set it to false the path of the textures is also kept.

That sorted out the texture issue thanks Arno but the models are still not showing in P3D V2 so there is something else at play here. I think it may be a P3D issue as they show fine in FSX with the same bgl.

Are you using the fsx mdl format? The fs2004 mdl format does not work in P3D v2.
