• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FSX Jet engines and throttle control

Iv been messing with jet engines in the air.file and CFG file attempting to edit the throttle settings without much success. Is it possible to lower the idle thrust, and create a 50% thrust setting using the throttle? Having increased the static thrust for a model at idle the thrust just seems to slowly increase. If the throttle is engaged the thrust very slowly will increase, however very hard to actually throttle back, thrust lingers dropping to 70% only with the throttle at idle. How might one edit these properties? Thanks

You might want to read through this: https://www.fsdeveloper.com/forum/resources/fs-thrust-vs-altitude-calculations.43/download
It's from the resources section of this wonderful forum.
Jet engine settings in the .air file are not only complex, but very interdependant. I would spend the time to read through that from start to end. AND ensure you understand not only what each .air file section does, but how they relate to one another. And they all do. That's the real secret to it all, IMO...

I've spent years, off and on, reading through that Resource, and I STILL wouldn't say I really understand it all. I like to think of myself as a pretty smart guy, but this stuff is stratospheric to me. I keep at it, when I'm not busy with learning the TacPack xml coding, but it's still just a dim glow in my pea-brain...

Anywho, the information, and answers you seek, are mostly, if not all, in that download. Give it a look :D

Ha...this is like thinking yer i got 10 min, lets start a quick conversation on is there a god, consciousness, free will and the Fermi paradox. Or thinking maybe i can just jump across the event horizon and hop back real fast like, or waking up and thinking mmm to day i will be come an aerospace engineer...should be done by 4pm. Coffee, quiet place, Thanks Pat :coffee:

And, if you have questions, post them in the flight dynamics forum and I’ll answer them
