• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Just need a quick solution...

Hi there!

I created an FSX airport using ADE, and I would like to generate some random flight plans for GA.

Is there a quick way to do so?

Thanks :)

The quick answer is "No". And nothing will generate random flightplans. However, it is not as hard as you think. Don, the developer of AIFP(AI Flight Planner) is on vacation for another week or so and may be able to check in to help you. Untill then look over Don's manual a few times. It really is good. This is what works for me.
Open the exe. I would click on "Airports"(upper left),then collect airports. Because you have an add on airport you will want to check "Add on". I always collect stock and add ons.Uncheck anything for FS9 for now. AIFP now has you brouse to where your add on is located. Select the folder and begin the collection . When it is done, you will be asked if you want to save the new airports list. Yes you do.
Next you need to select an aircraft. Upper left again. Aircraft/add aircraft to list. I would start with one. Then select add to list. If you get this far your doing OK. If not let us know.
The rest is filling in the blanks on the screen before you. You will need to fill in the starting and ending airport(and back again)departure time(AIFP fills in arrival time, altitude, flight #,round trip time(1,2,4,6,8,12,24hrs) and a few other things.
AIFP is really the simplest program I've come across, though it may not seem like it to you yet.
Give it a shot and let us know.

Using AIFPv1.5 where you can add your new designed airport easily is the easiest way i know off...at least for me it is working fine!
Good luck!

Thanks guys!

Can I create a flight plan for a plane, and have it repeat it daily or something?

Won't be hard to create flightplans for one day, but if I wanna fly there for a year... :P

Yes. You must involve at least two airports. Start at airport "A", go to airport"B", than return to "A". Depending on how close these airpors are, the plane could make the trip several times a day, every day. Start very simple. AIFP will help you along the way. Again the manual is very good.

Thanks, I created seven flight plans, and compiled them...

Now I just gotta test to see if it works!

They're all single-legged, and I got some notice each time I added a flight plan, that the airport in the final leg would be the same as in the first leg or something, is that something I should worry about?

And is there a way to create flight plans without touch & go's?

:)

All flight plans MUST have at least TWO legs. And must end with the same airport you started with. Don't check the TnG box. Your plans will be in GMT so make sure you go to your airport at the correct time. Have fun.

Bob

Ah, I think I finally figured it out.

Of course it makes sense the airplane must return...

Thanks! :)

EDIT: Nope, doesn't work.

I've compiled it, and placed it in the scenery/world/scenery folder, and nothing seems to be wrong about it.

Why doesn't it work?

They go to an airport I've designed, but it was an edit of an original airport, and FSX treats the place as one airport, so that can't be the problem, can it?

I wanted to add the add-on, but I didn't know how.

If you edit a stock airport, then it becomes simply an airport with your edits. It all goes back into FSX as one, not two separate airports. What kind of edits did you make? What airport is it? Keep at it.

Bob

I edited the default Juancho E. Yrausquin (SABA by default, TNCS IRL. Working on changing the ICAO, but if I do so, FSX does start treating them as separate airports). I've used ADE, and placed the .bgl file in addon scenery/scenery as normally.

But the traffic won't show up...

EDIT: Problem solved. The active level was the problem.

Thanks! :)
