• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Hi.

Here is screenshot of the runway. I have updated the runway textures and lines. Next step is to add ramps and taxiways.

I'm excited to watch this one develop. Our FS server is organizing a European getaway, and Kangerlussuag is on the return leg back to the states after we're done. I've been able to compete an AFCAD update for the airport, but nothing substantial.

The ramps are almost ready. Next thing to do is to complete them aswell as the edges and taxilines. As you can see the mesh also needs attention :) I might need some help on that one.

Will there also be done some work on the mesh? I definitely remember it looking much more dramatic, especially on the side of the airport where your screenshot was taken...
Interesting choice of project in a much needed part of the world!

Hi Boaz.

At first I was going to make the scenery for use with Fs Greenland mesh but I agree with you that it would make the scenery better to make it more detailed around the airport. However I have no experience making mesh and I believe it is very difficult to adjust the flattenings of the airport to surrounding mesh. I will look into it when the airport itself is finished. If there is someone willing to help me on this it would be great even though I don´t expect someone will.

Looks good indeed! I'll subscribe to this thread so I can follow your progress. ;)

I hope you succeed, I know that there is a mesh forum on avsim and I also know, that flytampa are known to be friendly if you ask for some advice...

Best of luck!

This is outstanding! I have waited soooo long for somebody to make a good FSX scebnery of Kangerlussuaq. Would work very nicely with Aerosoft's Iceland X!

Will subscribe to this topic :)

Thanks for the comments all.

Last few days I have not had much time to work on the scenery and I will not be able to do anything for the next couple of weeks. However I have been developing method to lay curved lines. There is no way to curve polygon lines in FSDS the way it is possible in Gmax and I like the lines to be smooth so I will use curved lines made in paintshop instead. It should also be more framerate efficient. It takes bit more work though. I am also working on the lights.

Just to let you know whats going on! :)

How's this scenery progressing? Not heard about it for some time. I hope everything's okay.

Hi.

I am still working on the ground textures, but have limited time right now so the project is progressing slowly. I will upload some previews soon.

Excellent work:) I will be keeping an eye out on this as im the known FSX Arctic pilot and hate flying out of the Cooler.

Here is some more pics. I still do not have sufficiant information about markings and signs. I also need pics of buildings to make textures so if any of you have anything to share I would be grateful.

Is the project dead, someone might ask. No it is not. For the past few days I have made some progress with ground textures and approach lights. I have also improved the landclass and mesh close to the airport, as well as beginning the painful task of making macros without much information. Mind you it is all being done in FSDS! (except landclass/mesh). More later...

This is looking promising. One advise though: Make the lines smooth. I see you use custom made ground with GMax/Max. Create the lines as lofts, you can specify the interpolation that way. As you won't have any performance issues in Greenland you can use values above 20, the lines are perfectly round then. ;)

I am sorry but I am using FSDS and as far as I can tell the loft method is not an option in that program. I totally agree with you that curved lines add quality to the scenery so I hope someone proves me wrong on this one. :)

Looks very good Congratulations !:D
Thank you sir!
